My Eighth Blog Food and Oils

Hope everyone has a Happy Holiday and Merry Christmas!

With Christmas and Holiday Happenings, food plays a great part. Your essential oils will give your holiday fare a great taste.

We may not be able to spend the holidays with those we love, but we can still enjoy the meal and think good thoughts about them. You may even set up a time to eat together with the zoom or other video connection going to have that full family feeling.

Here are some of the ways I use the flavourful spices to add flare to holiday feasting.
Currently I have cranberries on the stove as I type this. When they are done cooking I will add Wild Orange essential oil to boost the flavour instead of juice as the package suggests.

You can take any of your holiday favorite cookie or cake recipes and 3-5 drops of essential oil to them and enjoy. Add a drop or two of Lemon to a lemon cake or custard. See the smiles.
This year the holiday cookies are peppermint choc-chip. The blueberry crisp for dessert tomorrow will have Cinnamon Bark instead of ground cinnamon to bring it to the next level.
Normally I would do the ham for the big gettogether and use a few drops of Clove to spice it up with the honey. This year I am doing a roast and will likely use Celery Seed and I would suggest Rosemary but my mom does not like that one. I am not sure, think I will look up some recipes on line to see what else would be good for flavour.
Remember essential oils will cook off so if you are seasoning try to add at the end of your cook using a toothpick amount at a time. If baking you can ad at the beginning but drops are needed so you still have the flavour at the end.
There is no limit to your imagination Take the flavours you love and have some fun.
I look forward to seeing you comments below about what you tried and how much you and your family liked the bump in taste.

Merry Christmas!
