My Fifth Blog The dentist

Last week I mentioned stress and essential oils, and the dreaded dentist visit.

Well since last week I have been to the dentist for a cleaning. I had been scheduled to go 3 days after the first shutdown so my last cleaning was about 2 years ago. I have to say I love OnGuard toothpaste and OnGuard mouth wash and the toothpowders I make myself with spearmint and clove essential oils with the new sensitive carrier oil as well. Becky my hygienist said there was not a lot of build-up!

Before I go any farther I do need to give Becky a shout-out she was fabulous (now I have no idea if she will ever see this but..) Previously I have had some very bad experiences with dentists but since switching to the one I have now things have been going well. This was my first cleaning with Becky.

My dentist trips involve clove oil to numb my mouth before I go and rolling on, more like rolling in, wild orange and lavender. I could not find those but my mini roller with wild orange and lavender was on my desk. So That was rolled over my heart and on my wrists before I left. When I got into the car, when I go into the office.

Why so many times you may ask. Was it because the oils were not working? Nope, they worked and I calmed down each time I used them. Yeah Lavender!

It was actually interesting, as I have mentioned before I have PTS, so I do not wear a cloth mask. The plastic mask I do wear caught the oils as they evaporated from over my heart and created a tent like spa effect. I found it very soothing. My fear did not go away, but I did calm and stop clutching my hands together like vice-grips. I was actually smiling while still sitting in the dreaded chair, between having the the x-rays and the cleaning.

The citrus oil helped me feel more positive toward the whole experience. Have you ever walked into the grocery store and breathed deeply as you walk through the oranges and other citrus? Bet you smiled.
