73 Spring Cleaning DIYs

Spring is in the air. The first thing we want to do is clear out that winter stale air.  Bring on the sunshine and warm breezes! Here are a few things you can put into the diffuser to clean your air and make it feel fresh inside.

Air-X blend, Purify blend, Easy Air/Breathe Blend are all great at cleaning and clearing the air as well as being uplifting. Remember with the quality of doTERRA, only a few drops, 4- 8 depending on the size of your diffuser, are all that you need to use.

If you are dealing with a mold issue use OnGuard in your diffuser. Check out this science experiment.

Are you creative? Create your own diffuser blend. Remember to use an Uplifting - Cleansing combination to help feel that spring effect. Citrus and mints are wonderful and would fit the bill. You could try; Spearmint and Lemon, Peppermint and Wild Orange, or the new SuperMint with Green Mandarin (currently my favorite combo).

Share below in the comments your spring fresh diffuser favorite.

Spring cleaning is more than just cleaning the air. Let's talk some cleaning DIYs. This Detox Spray is effective as well as refreshing. If your house is like mine, the front hall tile needs a good cleaning from all that salt and mud that has now been tracked in. You can use this DIY on any tile in your house including the tile in your shower and bathroom floor.

Tile Scrub and Shine.
1 bucket hot water
ΒΌ Cup white vinegar (I use rice vinegar, white is made using wheat but it is way cheaper)
2 Tablespoons Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap (get one that is unscented)
20 Drops essential oil - see below for suggestions. You will find your favorite combination. Play! Use 15 for linoleum.

1 - Fill a bucket with hot water first. Prevents a soap bubble overflow.
2 - Add the vinegar, soap, and essential oils. Stir well.
3 - Dip a mop, rag, or scrubbing brush into the solution and use it to clean your tile floors or bathtub.

Essential oils for cleaning: Tea tree, bergamot, eucalyptus, grapefruit, lemon, lime, tangerine, wild orange, oregano, lavender, geranium, peppermint, clove, and citronella. *NOTE all are good in the diffuser as well.

Here are some ideas on how to put them together.
Rascal and Scamp approved: Lavender + Lemon
Sunshine in a Bottle:  Lemon + Lemongrass + Wild Orange + Lime
A Little Bit spicy: Orange + Clove or Cinnamon
Sparkling Spring: Tea Tree + Eucalyptus (Great for Grout cleaning)
Meadow Shine: Arborvitae + Lemon + Marjoram
Fresh As Air: Tea Tree + Lemongrass + Eucalyptus

For Dusting use the above combinations in a glass spray bottle. Get adventurous pick and play with the combinations here or use another combination of essential oils. Use 4-10 drops of essential oil in your spray bottle and top with distilled water. (Tap water goes bad) Spray over surfaces and wipe with a soft cloth or paper towels.

Strait talk about Cleaning and PET SAFETY. Think about the harsh chemicals in commercial cleaners. Now think about using plants to effectively clean your home. The essential oils with vinegar and or water are safer. Yes with small pets like cats or rodents you want to be carful with the stronger essential oils just like commercial cleaners. Remember you are diluting essential oils which makes them even safer.
